I’m at the end of the line…It’s my last year of undergrad…I have a mountain of work to get done this week…I’ve got lawyers hounding my ass for patton stuff…there’s an incubator full of my mentors breathing down my neck…an alumni organization calling me every 5 minutes about money…I’ve been with my girlfriend in hospital for the past 3 days…my parents are calling me every other hour to rant about not painting the apartment yet…finals are next week…
…and all I can think about is going to the gym…strapping my gloves on…and getting back on the mats.
I’M BURNT THE FUCK OUT!!! GIVE ME MY DIPLOMA!…
I’m not usually one to ask for help with anything. Over the years, I’ve developed a habit of only asking for help when I’ve exhausted every other option. Unfortunately, on a rare occasions like tonight…I can’t seem to find anyone that will/can help me.
So, I’m open to suggestions from the void…Is there a way to just skip to graduation?
The Float Table is a matrix of “magnetized” wooden cubes that levitate with respect to one another. The repelling cubes are held in equilibrium by a system of tensile steel cables.
It’s classical physics applied to modern design. Each handcrafted table is precisely tuned to seem rigid and stable, yet a touch reveals the secret to Float’s dynamic character.

If anyone still thinks the government works for the people, welcome to the fucking world.
Via Oh, Monocles!
Let’s see what this astoria park firework event is all about. I’ve been hearing about it for years.
I thought to myself when I saw this, “no. This has to be some one being silly. This has to be something some one fabricated to make microsoft look worse and people just aren’t checking the source.”
AND IT GOT WORSE:
I want everyone to think long and hard on this information.
This means that you are not buying your games. You are paying 60+ dollars to rent the games from Microsoft, and they can take their game back whenever they feel like it.
You will not own your game. You will not own your console. Essentially, Microsoft is saying “We can disable your games and cut you off from accessing your console whenever we choose to.” Because a ban that locks your XBox Live account means that you will be locked out from all non-game functionality of the system, and by revoking your ‘licenses’ on all your games associated with your account, they can then disable each and every game you own for the system. Leaving you with a five hundred dollar cable receiver. Or, in the case of most users of the console, a five hundred dollar paperweight.
All because you accidentally walked into some online glitch and the rest of the players rage-report you for cheating.
This is unacceptable. Buy any console but an XBox One. Do not support Microsoft’s sudden belief that they own everything despite our purchase of it, and we have to prove we’re worthy of being shared with by paying exorbitant fees and jumping through constant hoops and hoping someone doesn’t report us for cheating because we made them mad in an online game.
Tell Microsoft ‘No,’ and do not give them your hard-earned money for what amounts to a video game subscription service with a $500 starting fee and $60+ dollar purchases.
Day 1 (For the next few weeks I’ll be checking out and training at a number of martial arts schools in the New York area to find a new place where I can progress. I’ve got a lot of free time on my hands this summer and I want to use it productively.) I’m interested in this place because of their “minimal movement, maximum effect and speed” techniques and their methods for punching, kicking, trapping and grappling. There is an open floor policy for members to train throughout the day and they have a cage for sparring.

Normally, on a night like this, I would be beating the sand out of some heavy bags…but I messed up my ankle in a demonstration a few days ago while my friend was introducing me to kajukenbo. So…I won’t be striking with my legs any time soon, but I haven’t had a problem with putting weight on it.
This gives me the opportunity to brush up on my internal and work on my Chen Style…carefully. Although our forms differ in many ways, this is the gist of what I will be working on tonight. Tai Chi FTW!
Tumblr seems so foreign to me these days…It’s time to change that. I’ve been so caught up with everything in my life that I haven’t really had any time to procrastinate…which is something that I never thought would come to pass…weird.
A lot has happened since my last text entry. I’ve lost family members, made new friends, live through new experiences and I’ve changed a few things in my work and home environments. Recently, it seems that no matter what direction the events in life seem to be going, I’m pretty content with the decisions I make.
Now that the semester is over and I have some more time on my hands, I’m looking forward to carrying out my plans for this summer. At the moment, I only have one night class on Tuesdays and Thursdays; giving me more time to spend on writing music, brushing up on my Wizards of the Coast games, spending time with my girlfriend and going to the gym.
This is the first summer since high school that I’m not consulting at a firm or taking on an internship…So, I’ve got a lot more leisure time on my hands than I’m comfortable with. Although, knowing myself, all that free time won’t be hanging around for very long…I always find something to keep my busy.
For example, tonight I’m going to be brushing up on my tai chi in my basement and popping in BioShock Infinite for some quality time with my PS3…it’s been so long.
I’m delighted to announce that we’ve reached an agreement to acquire Tumblr!
We promise not to screw it up. Tumblr is incredibly special and has a great thing going. We will operate Tumblr independently. David Karp will remain CEO. The product roadmap, their team, their wit and irreverence will all remain the same as will their mission to empower creators to make their best work and get it in front of the audience they deserve. Yahoo! will help Tumblr get even better, faster.
Tumblr has built an amazing place to follow the world’s creators. From art to architecture, fashion to food, Tumblr hosts 105 million different blogs. With more than 300 million monthly unique visitors and 120,000 signups every day, Tumblr is one of thefastest-growing media networks in the world. Tumblr sees 900 posts per second (!) and 24 billion minutes spent onsite each month. On mobile, more than half of Tumblr’s users are using the mobile app, and those users do an average of 7 sessions per day. Tumblr’s tremendous popularity and engagement among creators, curators and audiences of all ages brings a significant new community of users to the Yahoo! network. The combination of Tumblr+Yahoo! could grow Yahoo!’s audience by 50% to more than a billion monthly visitors, and could grow traffic by approximately 20%.
In terms of working together, Tumblr can deploy Yahoo!’s personalization technology and search infrastructure to help its users discover creators, bloggers, and content they’ll love. In turn, Tumblr brings 50 billion blog posts (and 75 million more arriving each day) to Yahoo!’s media network and search experiences. The two companies will also work together to create advertising opportunities that are seamless and enhance user experience.
As I’ve said before, companies are all about people. Getting to know the Tumblr team has been really amazing. I’ve long held the view that in all things art and design, you can feel the spirit and demeanor of those who create them. That’s why it was no surprise to me that David Karp is one of the nicest, most empathetic people I’ve ever met. He’s also one of the most perceptive, capable entrepreneurs I’ve worked with. His respect for Tumblr’s community of creators is awesome, and I’m absolutely delighted to have him and his entire team join Yahoo!.
Both Tumblr and Yahoo! share a vision to make the Internet the ultimate creative canvas by focusing on users, design — and building experiences that delight and inspire the world every day.
I’m pulling an all nighter with Michael. While we work at our own sides of the lab, we start conversing on the Master Commander File Manager interface. After countless tangents, the conversation led to people having “original” ideas. I argued that, due to the likelihood of individuals having mutual interests, mildly similar experiences, and mutual frustrations, it seems improbable that whatever idea you can come up with wasn’t already thought of by someone else. It’s all just a matter of who acted on the idea first.
When I turn to hear his rebuttal…he was settled into the futon and had fallen asleep…so I threw a water bottle at him. Thus, continuing work flow and initializing the moment that I think to look at the clock and realize that today marks the day that my girlfriend and I have been dating for 9 months. Where did the time go?…Ah well, Happy Finals Week everyone!
Curse you, Mike. I’ll wake you up with the broken lathe…but first, I’m calling my girlfriend! =)
